My Rating: 4。5 Stars。What a slow burn that was。 This is my first Mariana Zapata book and wow， she did not disappoint。 She wrote the single most slowest romantic relationship I've ever read and managed to keep me invested。Honestly I have nothing but positive feelings around this book， except from a few points。 All I'm saying is that the way they got together was slightly， if not unintentionally， manipulative on Aiden's part。 I don't know， the part about Vanessa only being convinced because he wou My Rating: 4。5 Stars。What a slow burn that was。 This is my first Mariana Zapata book and wow， she did not disappoint。 She wrote the single most slowest romantic relationship I've ever read and managed to keep me invested。Honestly I have nothing but positive feelings around this book， except from a few points。 All I'm saying is that the way they got together was slightly， if not unintentionally， manipulative on Aiden's part。 I don't know， the part about Vanessa only being convinced because he would pay off her student loans made me feel a bit iffy about it， and it was never really adressed。 But every other part of their story and relationship was healthy and great， so I feel as if I can't complain too much。Other than that， I loved Mariana Zapata's writing style but the one thing that annoyed me was the constant building up to something and then the next chapter being transported to a completely different scene， where she'll then spend time quickly filling us in on what happened before。 My problem is that I was invested in the situations， so not being told what was happening in descriptive terms when the book was so long was kind of annoying， to say the least。But really， I admire the whole narrative of the book and really enjoyed reading it。 Genuinely I read this book for three days straight because I was so invested in the storyline。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 i’m not gonna lie this was pretty bad。 it was nearly 700 pages with virtually no plot。 it’s not like i need an absolutely riveting plot to get thru a book， but there was genuinely no conflict to this book at all。 even in the ‘fake marriage’ there were never any stakes。 there was no angst or tension at all。 i feel disappointed。 this is very sad。

That was the best slow burn book I’ve ever read - this deserves all 5 of its stars。I couldn’t put this book down。 From the very beginning I was hooked。 I loved the writing from the author， she didn’t leave anything out I felt like I knew these characters personally。 Slow burns can usually be pretty painful but this was written so well。 It captivates you from the get go where you are already so invested in these characters life。 Aiden is a the NFO’s best defensive lineback and his Vanessa is his That was the best slow burn book I’ve ever read - this deserves all 5 of its stars。I couldn’t put this book down。 From the very beginning I was hooked。 I loved the writing from the author， she didn’t leave anything out I felt like I knew these characters personally。 Slow burns can usually be pretty painful but this was written so well。 It captivates you from the get go where you are already so invested in these characters life。 Aiden is a the NFO’s best defensive lineback and his Vanessa is his assistant / cleaner / PA。 After Working with Aiden for 2 years Vanessa has decided it’s time to quit and pursue her dreams as a graphic designer， especially after her boss Aiden acts like she doesn’t exist 99% of the time。 After she quits a few weeks later he comes back to her begging her to return to work but she won’t go back。 Instead he asks her to marry him so he can get permanent residency in the US in exchange to pay for her $150，000 student loan fees。 She finally agrees and you are able to follow their story from Aiden being her rude and private boss to friends to lovers。 It’s no surprise Aiden is only focused on his career， he has minimal friends and rarely ever shows emotion。 Van knows everything about him but he doesn’t notice her until she leaves。 I love this book so much because Aiden goes from practically ignoring her for 2 years to becoming her friend to lover。 He opens up so much and becomes so caring and protective over her。 He does little affectionate things like kiss her in public or call him his wife even when they aren’t together。 The story really allows us to see them create a friendship and then turn that into a relationship。 I also love Vanessa she is a grey heroine。 She’s strong and career driven。 She knows how to handle Aiden and it’s so cute watching her fall for him。Overall， I couldn’t stop smiling in this book it is such a good fun read。 This book has the best character development I’ve ever read and I recommend everyone to go read this。 。。。more
